It’s Day 8 of the 10 Day Blogging Challenge and today’s mission was to actually get out from behind the laptop and go on a mini adventure.  No, this isn’t a car commercial.  If anything, I’m inadvertently advertising a well-known coffee brand.

I wanted to go out for an adventure with my dog to explore a new area, which is the kind of thing I love doing, but since she’s not been feeling well it was kinder to leave her to rest up.

So I took the opportunity to go to a coffee shop to relax and do a little planning too.  This last part might sound anything but fun to some people, but one of my favourite things to do used to be to go to a coffee shop and chill out, write a bit and think about plans for my business if I felt inspired to.  But I realised today that I haven’t done this in about 9 months, maybe more!

I ordered what I fondly refer to as a hot chocolate for grown-ups (a mocha) and sat in one rather plush-looking seat at a table by the window, so I could appreciate the sunlight and people-watch.  It felt pretty great to take this time for myself, but the fact that I actually felt inspired about my business plans again shows just how important it is to recharge like this.  It’s something that I frequently recommend to others, and although I do it myself it’s been too long since I treated myself to this particular activity.

This fun exercise reiterated for me that the ‘freedom plan’ is about designing your business around your desired lifestyle as much as it is about creating a business that supports the lifestyle you want.

I can definitely make room for more of this!  All it takes is a bit of forward-planning.  Not necessarily planning the adventure: I do like a healthy dose of spontaneity!  But knowing that I have the time set aside, routinely, to do something fun and inspiring will help me focus better on tasks.  It’ll also keep me motivated because it keeps me mindful of the freedom that I already have, as well as a reminder of why I’ve chosen the path of the freedom lifestyle.
