It has become a trend to travel the world to ‘find yourself’, and for some this may work, but I would bet that it’s down to the fact that they have given the time to look inside themselves. Regardless of how enriching an experience an around the world trip can be, you don’t need to search the external world to begin to ‘find yourself’; you only need to turn your attention inwards.

The two biggest problems that people stumble across on this quest are:

  1. In this fast-paced world of endless incoming information, it can be difficult to just pause and turn to look at what’s happening internally.
  2. Once you manage to turn your attention inwards, the mind can throw a spanner in the works. Firstly, there’s the mind chatter that can be difficult to tune out. Secondly, there is a tendency to rely solely on rationality, and when we do that, we run the risk of ignoring what our soul is trying to tell us.

Often when someone is struggling with pinpointing their life purpose, the problem began very early in life when they absorbed the values and beliefs that they were surrounded with as a young child. These are external initially, but they quickly become part of the internal programming of the mind if it will help us to avoid pain (e.g. the pain of rejection if we don’t fit in) or gain pleasure (e.g. the pleasure of being approved of by the family we need to belong to for our survival, as a child).

When we look inside and to put aside mind chatter, we discover feelings and sensations within that can help us piece together what is important to us on a soul level. When we connect with our soul we can by-pass the rationale of the mind before it talks us out of something we would love to do. Clearly, rationality has its place, but placing it above instead of alongside other internal messages is a mistake if you want to connect with your life purpose.

As many of you will know, I recently contributed to a book called, ‘365 Ways to Connect with Your Soul’. I feel honoured to be a part of such a wonderful collaboration. If you are looking for ways to listen to the internal messages that are waiting to be delivered to you, then this book will help you achieve this: Simply read and use the ones that resonate with you! This book is already a #1 Amazon Bestseller, which is testament to the valuable content. You can buy it on Amazon’s UK website by clicking here and Amazon’s US website by clicking here.
